Over the centuries theologians, philosophers, pastors and layman have wrestled with the theological “Gordian knot” of If God is all-powerful (omnipotent) and all-loving (omni-benevolent) how can evil exist in the world? Knowing that all things are ordered by God for His Glory Alone is comforting to those who have suffered the sudden death of a loved one, had miscarriages, and suffered from debilitating disease or any other circumstance, which to the world is negative, informs and structures our worldview so that we understand that things do not happen in a vacuum. Instead, the believer comes to embrace the truth that God has a purpose and a plan for the good of the believer but primarily for His Glory, for whatsoever comes to pass. The Biblical teaching is God plans everything that happens. He also ensures that everything he has ordained happens according to His plan. ...providence) is set to make us less self-centered, more God-centered and more people centered.” While God’s design in each of these categories is to fit the “bigger picture” which is the glory of Himself in all His works, it does not leave out the benefits to His Church and His child(ren) as well. God’s truths are always practical to the daily life of the believer to the building up of His church in this sorrowful world.
