Don Wilson This book is the personal memoir of Don
Born of parents who emigrated from England in the aftermath of WWI, Don spent his first few years living in a shop window in Brisbane. A Grain of Salt tells the story of Don's journey from the shop window to the present day. Don describes his life as a boy growing up in suburban Australia during WWII, with the Americans stationed in Brisbane and the very different air-raid shelters. There are tales of fishing and shooting, of adolescent tantrums, of running away with the carnival, of the disciplines of National Service and CMF, and the responsibilities and vicissitudes of adult life. It's a great story.
