The White Queen

A novel about Mary, Queen of Scots. It is a moving tale of high romance set against the implacable demands of a royal crown. For, while Mary could be an imperious queen, she was also an impetuous and loving young woman. And as the novel unfolds it is her heart which rules almost every action, first as a terrified but courageous girl-widow returning to a rough, unfriendly Scotland after a brief, dreamlike episode as Queen of France; then as a captivating and ingenuous Queen of Scotland striving to win the affection of her family and her people; and finally as a disappointed wife whose search for love sends her striding to her fate.
