Archduke Leopold Salvator (1863-1931) was a member of the collateral Tuscan line of Habsburg royalty. Before World War I, he lived with his wife, Infanta Bianca of Spain (1868-1949), and their ten children in considerable comfort and luxury in the heart of Imperial Vienna. "Lost Waltz" is the story of what happened to the Archduke's family after the end of the the war, upon their exile and impoverishment. Author Bertita Harding describes their resourcefulness and resilience as they built new lives for themselves in Spain and later in Italy in the 1920s and 30s. Harding focuses upon the ninth child, the fourth of five sons Archduke Franz Josef (1905-1975), who collaborated significantly with her on the writing of the book.
