Everyone knows that mail sent to Santa goes to the North Pole. The post office of Hell, Texas, receives a different kind of mail. All the angry apologies and proud boasts, the midnight confessions and last laughs sent in moments of honesty to the dead. Shy Maddy Rupert, 15, has a summer job at the post office in the quiet hill-country town. Selling stamps, sorting mail, - and dumping the dead letters down a cursed well shaft. Easy work, if boring. Until someone in the well begins writing to Maddy. She just may have a date for the Mid-Summer Dance, whether she wants one or not. The summer promises to be more interesting than Maddy expected. And that isn't even taking into account the ghosts camping at the crossroads.
