This is the third volume of the selected works of well known Russian historian and geographer Lev Gumilev (1912-1992). This work includes his theory of mankind and forming ethnoses in bio-social terms. It studies bioenergetic dominant of ethnogenesis, called by the author ' mirovaia passionarnost' (world passionness). He applie his own theory to explain birth, raising, and fall of main ethnoses in the Old World, Antiquity, and Middle Times in Europe, China, Byzantium, Turkey, Russia, and other regions of the earth
