Six thousand New Yorkers shot and two thousand killed each this was the way of life in New York City during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The city was losing the war on drugs. The epicenter of New York City’s crack trade was Southeast Queens, where the Supreme Team and their associates had ruled through intimidation and violence. The crack epidemic, and crack wars that followed, wreaked havoc on the citizens of those neighborhoods. Having worked in Southeast Queens during the crack era, George Norris witnessed firsthand the decay brought to the community.
