Romantic Detour

Heiress Damaris King, appearing as an ordinary girl, travels from her home in Munson City, Ohio to a small town in Vermont, called Otter Falls, in order to escape an unhappy life. She feels ugly, unwanted, and unloved for herself. It's only the money they care about. She choose Otter Falls, because it was recommended by an old friend. He promised to keep her secret. Only the man who she left in charge of the trust company knows the truth. The place where she lodges in run by Sarah Middleton, who takes a motherly interest in Damaris, who is thin and sickly looking. Dr. Mark Fenton comes to check on her. He prescribes rest and good food. In a matter of a week, Damaris is feeling better. Sarah offers Damaris a job. She accepts. She takes to the responsibility well. She's happy in Otter Falls and growing lovelier by the day. And she is growing closer to Mark. She is afraid to tell anyone the truth, for fear it will spoil her happiness.
