Where does a legend begin? Saizou gave five years to the Emperor's war in China. The last thing he expected when he returned home was a Japan changed beyond recognition. Under the rule of the capricious Prince-Regent, everything familiar is taken from him and he is declared a criminal. On the run and hunted by officials and bounty hunters alike, Saizou knows only one compromising truth and kindness will destroy him and make everything he fought for worthless. Now he must either give up and save himself or sacrifice everything he loves to spark a rebellion in a country of people he cannot trust.
