Before Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot, detective Jules Poiret was already solving crimes in London (*). Detective Jules Poiret was created by Frank Howel Evans in 1900. The character of Jules Poiret was inspired by Sherlock Holmes, created by Arthur Conan Doyle and in turn inspired Agatha Christie to create Hercule Poirot. (*) I know some wish to deny the existence of Jules Poiret and his influence on Hercule Poirot, but I hope my love for both detective Jules Poiret, detective Hercule Poirot and writers Frank Howel Evans and Agatha Christie shines through in these stories.
