Sylvia Brand: A Story of Data Dignity

After reading this novel, you may never click “I Accept” ever again. When Sylvia Brand reports for work on Monday morning, she discovers her lascivious, sexist manager has been abruptly transferred, and Sun Motors has replaced him with a genderless robot. At first, Sylvia and her co-workers are overjoyed to discover that Carin, the robot, is very nearly the perfect boss: unfailingly polite, eager to help solve problems, and dedicated to making the office a better team. As the days pass, Sylvia readily agrees to an increasingly invasive series of company policies - after all, she reasons, Sun Motors is a good place to work. But little by little, Sylvia is pulled into a totalitarian nightmare. After being sent to a secret facility to serve as a captive source of medical data, she embarks on a life-or-death journey to freedom to save both herself and her unborn child.
