In 1890, being a witch in London will get you thrown into the asylum. And that’s exactly what I am. The Iron Academy for Girls is the only place that can offer me sanctuary, but when I arrive, I find out that sanctuary comes at a hefty price. In order to stay at the Academy, I have to decipher the spells of a mystical book I’ve had for longer than I can remember. But the spells have never made sense, and the only way I can decipher them is with the help of a handsome tinkerer who I’m forbidden from interacting with. He has an idea that could set us both free forever. The perfect alchemy of mechanics and magic. If we’re caught, he’ll lose his inheritance and be banished from London, and I’ll be turned out from the Academy and locked up in the asylum forever. We have to do this in perfect secrecy. But with gossip and magic running amok in the Academy, it seems we’re doomed before we even begin.
