Beneath the Scars

When Constance Elizabeth Andrews, Connie to her friends, decides to walk home along the deserted back roads of England’s Lake District, she doesn’t expect to be embarking on a journey to the other side of the Universe. Waking up, she finds herself naked on a spaceship manned by two alien scholars from the highly advanced Ful nation, whom she names Billy and Bob. After agreeing to allow them to observe her human emotions, they, in turn, agree to show her various wonders of the Universe, including a visit to the Five Kingdoms. However, unbeknown to Billy and Bob, the Fuls had been waging war close to the border with the Five Kingdoms and an uneasy peace now exists between the two nations. Meanwhile, deep in the centre of the Five Kingdoms, Raylon, the crown prince and brother of Zasrus, the Vara king and ruler of The Five Kingdoms, has been observing the approaching Ful ship with great interest. When it finally arrives after a sixteen-month journey, which Connie has spent in stasis, a masked man boards the Ful ship, only to encounter the full wrath of sassy-mouthed Connie. When the king unexpectedly invites Connie to a ball at the palace that evening, she encounters the masked man once more, only to find out he’s none other than Prince Raylon. Despite the obvious problems of her coming from Earth and him living billions of miles away, an attraction builds between them, and when she must leave for home a few days later, they are both heartbroken. After returning to her normal life on Earth, Connie misses Raylon immensely but knows she will never see him again. But back in the Five Kingdoms, Raylon is having identical thoughts and feelings.
