The Escape Room: A Gruesome Tale from Edinburgh’s Future

Edinburgh 2039, twenty years after Brexit and fourteen years after achieving Independence Scotland is back in the EU. Technology and medicine have greatly improved but with artificially intelligent machines doing much of the productive work people have little opportunity to earn money and are being ground down by student loans and rent. The penalties for missing payments are severe. Only bankers, landlords and the University are prospering. In echoes of the city's past a shadowy group of scientists called the Guild are running macabre experiments ignoring all ethical considerations in pursuit of knowledge. Everyone who investigates them ends up dead, apparently of natural causes, Apprentice PC Justine Claverhouse must bring them to justice before she meets the same fate.
