Reverend Clarence Washington, the charismatic black minister who conceived the Bacauptown project as a means of saving his beleaguered neighborhood and church, must contend with racism in the white community and fend off the greed of the black mayor and others who want only to enrich themselves. All three men lust after a beautiful Creole woman, Tonya Whittington, who has returned to New Orleans on a mission.
