A later edition of GOD'S PROTECTING PROVIDENCE., originally published in 1699, and one of the most popular of 18th-century captivity narratives. The author and a party of Quakers were bound for Philadelphia from Port Royal when they were shipwrecked in 1696 near present-day West Palm Beach. Despite being robbed and abused by the Indians, they were allowed to make their way up the coast to St. Augustine.
