When a bog body is unearthed in a sleepy Irish village, the media descend like a swarm of locusts on Ballyanny. Experts are called in but when they discover the body is too recent to be of archaeological significance, it immediately becomes a matter for the Gardaí. Two elderly residents of Ballyanny are more curious about the mysterious affair than most. Retired school mistress Una Murphy and her best friend Joan are avid fans of murder mystery novels, in particular those of Agatha Christie. When the Gardaí suddenly drop the case without explanation and the body disappears from the morgue, the ageing amateur sleuths take it on themselves to conduct their own investigation. But someone is watching them, dogging their every step. The Bog Body is a gripping tale of jealousy, ruthless ambition and murder in a page-turning whodunit set amid the verdant landscape of rural Ireland.
