Jerry Tyler has been estranged from his family friend Major Pryor for several years following a series of events culminating in his son's suicide - a tragedy for which the Major holds Tyler accountable. Visiting the Major one evening to discuss a matter of business, Tyler finally has the chance to set the record straight. Before a reconciliation can take place, however, the Major is found dead in mysterious circumstances. Arrested for a murder he did not commit, but released due to lack of evidence, Tyler embarks on a desperate attempt to discover the real culprit. Originally published in 1933, this is a vintage American murder mystery from the golden age of crime fiction.
