The mysterious land between England and Wales is a place of myths and legends, where magic only sleeps. When Rosetta Clarence arrives in her new home, it wakes and oozes from every corner of the sleepy valley of Oldmere. In the exclusive school that sits on the towering rock of Oldmere Knoll schoolchildren are going mad, animals talk and an atmosphere of fear drifts through the mists and forests. Can this have anything to do with the school’s secret mediaeval library and its wild custodian? Everything points at Rosetta being central to the mystery, but how can that be when she has only just arrived? Reluctantly Rosetta must, with an ill-assorted band of friends, set out to solve the puzzle of Oldmere Vale. This is a journey that takes her from Celtic mysteries to a threat to herself and those close to her.
