Ransomed

In the summer of 1954, Johnnie Marlowe and a friend meet a Penn State forestry expert studying ancient trees in a primordial forest near Sheffield, Pennsylvania. A famous Hollywood starlet, working on location there, is kidnapped. The boys and their new friend discover clues to her whereabouts in a decaying Civil War mansion. Although they are able to free the girl, the kids are forced to escape at night into the dense forest. The abductors pursue the three kids down precipitous mountain trails, through a treacherous swamp, and finally to a thundering waterfall. Some kidnappers meet their fate, but a final show down takes place back at the mansion, where the boys use newly acquired lumberjack skills to outwit the kidnappers.
