Framing Reference

Framing Reference introduces the work of three young contemporary poets; each inhabits distinct worlds, but one thing that links their work is the idea of movement or travel. For all three, movement through the natural world becomes a journey through and into the self and others. In many of these poems, the speakers move in a world where immediacy of sensation is achieved through crisp images which communicate intense feelings of love, loss, discovery, exploration, escape, and relief through the depiction of the natural world or the world of human artefacts. All three poets share a dedication to poetry as a craft and a delight in their own and each other's words. Framing Reference is a welcome addition to contemporary poetry in English.
