Harriet loved her new home in Australia, but not so her mother, Mrs Wilmot and her dainty sister Rose-Ann who pined for the orderly London life they had left behind. In the face of the difficulty of the harsh land and the ever present threat of bush rangers it seemed almost certain that Mr. Wilmot would be persuaded to take them back to England, but Harriet, determined to stay, sets about establishing the family so completely in the Barley Creek community that they would no longer want to leave.
