Alan W. Powers Over twenty parodies of poets like both Dylans (Thomas and Zimmerman), Ashbery, Wilbur, Angelou, Herrick, Dickinson and Shakespeare. These in the growth of a poet's mind: the central character, Onagain (distant derivative from Pushkin) is based on my brilliant college friend. This question begins my story-poem: Why are poets expected to be sad-face?
"He knew--from a picture of Rod McCuen--
of all his race, the poet makes
the saddest face. And next to a hound,
the saddest sound."
Maybe when the dog is not a hound, he'll write more cheerily. Our dog (gerel) poet is an English Sheepdog named Wordsworth, pet of the brilliant parodist who left us young.
