Excerpt from Introductory Lecture, Delivered in the Castleton Medical College, on the 10th April, 1843 It would be both interesting and instructive to examine each of these departments, and show their intimate con nection and mutual dependence; but as such an investiga tion would far transcend the limits of the present discourse, I shall confine myself to those which will be the partien lar subjects of our study during the ensuing course of lec tures namely, Anatomy and Operative Surgery. To a brief notice of these branches of science, and of the manner in which I shall try to teach them, the remainder of this address will be devoted.
