Ruby Knowles, a Mother and Grandmother, is bullied, ridiculed and abused by her husband Private Bertie Knowles, until she can bear it no longer. With the help of her friend Elsie they plan his demise. The night of retribution coincides with a bombing raid over the English Channel. A dramatic dog fight between a Spitfire and Messerschmitt occurs. As bullets slice through the darkness pelting the ground, Ruby and Bertie, both intent on killing each other, battle to the bitter end. Only one of them can survive.
