Kim has qualms about accepting this offer at first, but her anxiety over what will be best for James spurs her on. Kim grows to enjoy Henri’s adoration – a pleasure she was denied for so long by the unaffectionate, absent Richard. Settling into her new way of life Kim finds a part-time job as an English tutor and she starts editing a health book with a zany American called Beverly-Jane. Life without Richard seems a lot brighter for Kim but when the dashing British diplomat Mark arrives on the scene, Kim’s life is about to be thrown into chaos again.
