Neverland

Former policeman Mark West returns to his hometown by Cape Cod, only to stumble upon a mysterious child running into a cemetery every morning. She leaves notes by a nameless grave, notes intending for a recipient unseen. But when Mark discovers reply notes that suggest the recipient is much older than expect, he involves himself in the exchange to ensure that the child remains unharmed. Who is this person named Toby, and what does he want with a little girl? A short story, approximately 4,500 words.
