Some things just aren't the way they seem on the surface. Things that are not so obvious present themselves, and often times we record them subliminally. An example might be some innocuous occurrence or experience we had as a child which for some reason we can still see clearly in our minds eye many years later. Maybe a dream sticks with us when most of the others vanish. Why do some thoughts stay with us when so many others fade and are forgotten? The answer may lie somewhere in our DNA. Reflecting upon experiential elements from our past may teach us something about who we really are. Here are some refl ections that have stuck with me, and some of them may resonate with you. Terry Rippl lives in Gahanna, Ohio with his wife Pam and his dogs, Annie and Hank. A retired Department of Defense employee, he has been writing poetry since he was in high school. He has written and published a children's book Tippy, Dog Gone Detective, about a little dog with oversized dreams. He has also coauthored several children's plays performed during Christian Vacation Bible School for more than a decade. His experience writing poetry includes works published in the US and in England, and he has also had his poetry performed on local radio. He enjoys working with children, and currently is a substitute teacher for primary grades in central Ohio. He is a long-suffering Cleveland Indians fan. If he could be anyone else in life it would be Disney's Goofy.
