John F. Russell Excerpt from Recap: Report of Five More Apparent Cures of Pulmonary Tuberculosis Occurring in Working People Who Were Treated at a Dispensary Without Interruption to Their Work
These patients are working people and must continue to work while under treatment in order to obtain means of livelihood. This is an unchangeable condition. The treatment of their disease is ever secondary to the struggle for subsistence. How to obtain the great est number of hours of fresh air and sunlight, What to eat, when to eat, how much to eat, how to regulate exercise and still continue to work, must be determined by the kind of work, the number of hours of labor, and the conditions surrounding the patient while at work.
