Donating Oranges is about hunting for happiness in tragedy. This is our story, although the names have been changed to protect our children. The main character is Sarah Jane Washington, who prefers to be called Esser. The origins of her nickname and the title, Donating Oranges, are revealed in the book. Esser is an American, who married an Australian named Cliff. They live together in Australia with their three boys. Cliff was diagnosed with Mesothelioma (terminal cancer) on December 6, 2011 at the age of 48. Donating Oranges was written as a series of journal entries made by Esser and now published in this book. Donating Oranges is dedicated to the families, friends and communities who support others. If you are one of those people, in any way, then Donating Oranges is a love letter of gratitude to you. Your kind acts, no matter how great or small, affect everything.
