An Egyptian ship sails into a bay near an Ancient British settlement. The sailors have come to trade, but they find that they return with more than they'd bargain for: Sabor, the son of the chieftain, sails with them, a prisoner. Sabor never settles into the life of slavery he's destined for in Egypt. Taunted and hated by many and loved only by Nofret, a dancing girl in his master's household, he becomes an outlaw and a leader of revolt, a scourge to the Egyptian royal household, until 'the white cat', as he comes to be called, is caught and placed on trial for his life
