Mark L. Richards Valerius Maximus, proconsul of Germania, has been governing for over eight years. Assisted by his loving wife, Hereca, and his close friend and retired centurion, Marcellus, harmony and prosperity abound on the volatile border, but the peace and tranquility is short-lived and unravels quickly.
