The book Ethereal White Mist is a Novella that tells a story in a memoir narrative style format. This work of fiction is derived from the Author’s personal life experiences viewed through a fictional scope. The story begins in the Blue Ridge Mountain setting of Roanoke, Virginia. The main character, Steve, is working as a grocery night stock clerk. He begins to relay his life story and struggles with mental illness. The story spans from his upbringing in small town Ohio; college years; military service as a US Army Infantry Soldier; battles with jobs; vague, unfulfilled and exciting personal relationships, all the while dealing with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Bi-polar Disorder. The story follows not only life events, but gives a look into how Steve’s mind works. His philosophical underpinnings and how they changed overtime from his Catholic upbringing to the influence of Zen Buddhism. Not everything is as it appears and the truth of the story’s content is revealed in the end. Overall, the book is a psychological journey of one man’s life, a window into his mind, life, aspirations, joys, disappointments, and delusions.
