Gabrielle, a bush pilot in Brazil, plans to enlist the aid of Nicolao, her childhood friend, to help her return a conquistador's gold sunburst medallion their fathers had stolen from a shrine deep within the rain forest. Gabby believes that act cursed their lives, and hopes that by returning the medallion, the curse will be reversed. Nic doesn't believe in the curse and feels the trip would be suicide.
