The huge department store of Line and Hollis, filled with smart shoppers, hummed with activity on the afternoon that dainty Joyce Terry hurried back to the French Room with her sales book to complete the purchase made by her customer in the fitting room. Her eagerness to serve changed to sudden horror when she surveyed the lifeless form that sprawled, clad in clinging lingerie, on the fitting stand where a few moments before had been a charming woman. Murder had suddenly visited and struck in the midst of thousands of shoppers that were on the floor containing the French Room with no sound or evidence of witness.
