Anthony Ashton Resurrection
Looking out on the darkening void as the Gulfstream V heads for Bangkok, Josh Christie—singer-songwriter and leader of the up-and-coming rock band Frequently Asked Questions—cannot work out how things could have gone so wrong, so quickly.
The previous day he'd witnessed a remarkable software demonstration where someone else was actually being him , virtually in real time. He’d had a pleasant lunch with his girlfriend, Charlotte North and his best friend, computer-genius Tomo Morrison. Finally, he was interviewed by one of the most astute music journalists in the David Millar, only to learn that his and FAQ's, hitherto, extremely promising future could very soon be lying in ruins.
The reason? Unbeknownst to him, FAQ's most recent appearances had been rigged. The Scotland Yard detectives assigned to the case suspect that Josh may have been involved in the life-threatening attacks on the musicians that FAQ replaced at two prestigious music events.
Seizing the opportunity to accompany his father on a private jet to Thailand, Josh has decided to lie low for a while. He is hoping that the blame for the brutal muggings will be placed where he is certain it on the shoulders of a vicious East End villain, Dennis James, who has recently wheedled his way into his entourage.
However, the friends he’s left behind in London become increasingly concerned that James and his agent may be trying to make Josh’s temporary absence rather more permanent. They are hoping to become the only beneficiaries of FAQ's sudden popularity.
FAQ’s videos are going viral, his songs are climbing up the charts while download sales begin to soar. It is even reported that his image is appearing in all kinds of strange places and a candlelight vigil is arranged to entreat for Josh Christie's safe return.
FAQ Fever has taken over. The hunt for Josh takes him and his adversary to Southern Thailand. But it turns out that not even those who’ve been trying to protect him are safe.
