Sam, a struggling novelist stuck on page one convinces his girlfriend, Sara, to allow him to orchestrate the funeral services for her recently deceased stepfather. All goes well until Harvey, a struggling actor who has never landed a role, barges in mistaking the funeral home for an audition. Though the funeral is ruined, Sam and Harvey agree to become roommates while they both pursue that elusive artistic success they desire. When Sam and Sara discover that Harvey has sold some ideas to a TV network, they plan to murder him in the manner of his favorite play, Deathtrap.
