Britain 429 AD. Almost two decades have elapsed since Britain gained its independence from Rome. In the early years, northern barbarians surged over the border killing at will but after pursuing and defeating the raiders in battle, one group of survivors carved out a kingdom they called Elmet. People rebuilt their lives, growing what they needed to eat. Family life continues as they make the most of their new circumstances. But there are still threats to their survival. Pict and Saxon pirates sail the seas, raiding unwary coastal villages, seeking gold and slaves. Anglian sailors cross the sea to settle, while Britain is still not immune from interference from the Roman Empire. Fights erupt between the different tribes of Britain and when Count Constantius returns from a failed rebellion in Armorica, he looks at the surrounding lands for any opportunity to expand his power.King Coel of Elmet holds out the hand of friendship to others to foster trade. But are Picts, Angles, Saxons and Romans his enemies or should he arm Elmet against his fellow Britons?
