FREDDY: THE HOT AIR BALLOON Children's Story/Balloon Fable/Adventure: A story incorporating all of my Mom's grandchildren~~~
Jane Stilwell • I wrote this book after seeing some balloons close up out at Perris Valley, CA. My son was with me, and he later decided to do a bungee jump from a balloon, on his birthday. He had a short video made of it so I could see it after the fact, so getting upset and giving advice would never be a problem. • But about the writing, I put some effort into using the names of all of my Mother’s grandchildren, for the benefit of my brothers and sisters (Mom is deceased, but wherever she is, she will be tickled that I invented such an ambitious and improbable adventure for them. • VIRTUAL TUTOR It seems like a fun project to write a book about your own family, including your children, your pets, and aunts, uncles, and grandparents, and familiar places and activities and memorable events. I tried to include things likely to happen, like taking lunch along, The vocabulary might be over some readers heads, but I hope their parents will be able to explain words like Afghanistan (a place that is not so mysterious or popular anymore, but still lingers in our imaginations as a place Grandma’s knit lap robe is named after), and some others. • Give it a try, your children will keep that book for the rest of their lives, and hold warm thoughts for family and home forever.
