This is a true story about the swans in Sun Valley, Idaho. The author was sitting near the pond at the lodge and saw the swans "turn in" for the night. Eccles was amazed at how the swan "parents" got ready for bed and how the littlest cygnet followed--while two larger cygnets played around in the water until the last moment. Thus, the story related in this book was born.
