Widowed 53 year old Philadelphia Homicide detective Sergeant Walter Alexander is given a new partner, the beautiful 38 year old Anabel Hernandez. The murder of a Chinese takeout owner is their first case together, and leads them to corrupt Philadelphia politicians, a ten thousand dollar baby Hyacinth parrot, an endangered species smuggling ring, and a missing teenage girl. Alexander’s problem is not the murders of the Chinese takeout owner, a washed up prizefighter and a two bit street punk, but how to keep from falling in love with Anabel.
