The Snowdrift: A Regency Christmas Story

In one of the worst winters on record, in December 1808, a stagecoach comes to grief on the icy roads. Fortunately for the passengers, Mr. Anthony Buckley, following in his own carriage, knows the occupants of a nearby house, and the disparate group of stranded passengers are welcomed into the home of the Satterthwaites, Thirtyoaks. Here they are made welcome by everyone but the sour-dispositioned governess; and preparations are made for a jolly Christmas.It is unfortunate for the peace of mind of the household that one of the stranded passengers is a runaway minor, who is sought by both her stepfather’s choice of husband, and, at her stepfather’s request, a Bow Street runner.This Christmas tale is one of how strangers become friends, and work together in adversity to fulfil the season’s spirit in the best possible way. It is also a tale of love arising between more than one couple!
