Sexual violence is one of the most undisclosed and unreported crimes in today’s society, especially when committed against Native women and girls. As Native women each of us either has experienced or knows someone who has experienced some form of sexual violence. In this book we share the stories of our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters and aunties to raise awareness, honor survivors, and share our powerful stories of healing. We utilize beaded barrettes to help tell the stories because they represent so much to us as Native women that we wanted to use them as a physical representation of our stories.
