On an expedition to Nepal with her godfather, thirteen-year-old Iona's nightmares return. Frantic to escape them, she runs out from her tent into a snowstorm. When she recovers consciousness, she finds she has fallen among the yeti, the abominable snowmen of Himalayan legend. To the yeti, the captive human child is a talisman, a magical and possibly conciliatory force in the struggle between their warring clans. As cloudtime approaches, the yeti take sides and battle for their own and Iona's survival.
