Yes, the sins of the flesh had finally caught up with Henry Brock. An untimely death at the age of forty-five, plus a D. M. P. (Dominant Moral Propensity) for romance, have landed him squarely in the Second Circle of Hell--that section reserved for the Lascivious. But armed with copies of Dante and Milton, this intrepid soul sets forth to make the most of things--and does so--and soon finds himself consorting with an appropriately wanton bunch, including the world's most famous lovers, Antony and Cleopatra. And partake too of a plot they are concocting to overthrow Satan. Then, on a trip to Limbo to muster the support of Caesar, Brock's mission is undermined by, of all things, a little soul-searching, as he suddenly begins questioning the scheme of things in the Hereafter and wondering if he doesn't indeed belong elsewhere...perhaps even Upstairs. E. E. Y. (Edward Elton Young) Hales has conjured up a devilish fantasy, a sophisticated and ribald tale of one mortal soul's romp through some wonderfully nefarious nether regions.
