What will you do when you wake up and realise that everything you have done in your life is worthless? The sum total of all your actions is zero. The beautiful individual hiding inside has turned out to be just another grasping consumer, another empty shell trying to fill a vacuous life scrabbling around in the dirt. What price can be put on a wife and family? What value is assigned to a comfortable middle class life? How much would it take to betray friends and colleagues? Can life become an exercise in accountancy? Our hero finding himself sickened by his seemingly idyllic and pampered life in the Middle East asks the unspeakable questions. But then, one whiskey fuelled evening, an opportunity presents itself to become the path to freedom; a chance to wake up from this dissatisfying existence and to find that he actually needs less. He needs less than friends, less than family and less than meaning. A chance to cast it all aside like shaking sand from the soles of his shoes, and to truly explore the monster inside. Morality is for others.
