At the End of All Magic

Andrew Dale and his uncle Maeryl are wizards, perhaps the last. They flee from the Industrial Revolution that caused the deaths of their king by coming to Aethero, a strange land of gods, magic, and monsters. Maeryl made a bargain to get there, but at what price? Andrew, eight, only knows that his parents are dead, and his uncle is his last contact with a world that's gone. Maeryl raises the young wizard, teaching him magic and its central tenet: do no harm. Maeryl mysteriously abandons Andrew to a new guardian, never to be seen again. Though heartbroken, Andrew finds love with Ashna, the new guardian's daughter. Until she betrays him. Now, Andrew is a slave, wasting away as the cruel Sun God's pet, performing magic for fops and dandies while Ashna watches on.
