Anstice Brown liked New York and loved acting. But when her best friend's husband was murdered and Anstice was asked to accompany the widow's young son James to the tropical island of Madeira, she could not refuse. Besides, beautiful Madeira offered an enticing holiday: a quaint old villa; hot, sandy beaches -- perhaps even romance.
