Randy Velasquez, a young soldier stationed in Germany, is the final target of a demon that has plotted for 500 years to gain human form. In 1530, 17-year-old Rodrigo leaves Spain to make his fortune in the New World. When his ship is wrecked, he's stranded in an alien and hostile land, where he unwittingly sets the demon—which feeds on despair—on a path that will lead to Randy. But Randy knows none of this. Lise, his pregnant girlfriend has run away, and he's desperate to track her down. Every time he turns around though, there's the demon. Randy won't give up on Lise, despite the secrets he unearths, and he refuses to succumb to the demon. The Last Conquistador is a compelling, fast-paced story set in present-day Germany and the Columbus-era Americas among Spanish and Native American cultures. While it is a paranormal book, ultimately it's an all-too-human story about the search for love.
