When Jessie Sands’ partner, Mark Smoke, points her toward a newspaper article about two men seemingly have been devoured by rats in the former home of the international movie star, Desirée Danforth, Jessie doesn’t even know who Desirée Danforth was.But, with a bit of Googling, she soon finds out.Apart from being the sex symbol of a bygone age, Desirée became involved with the notorious Satanist Anton Lavey and died a gruesome death, indeed exactly the death Anton Lavey had predicted for her, and one she had narrowly escaped several times already before her fatal accident.Most people, on discovering this, would grimace and move on. Not Jessie, though. She gets into her Ford truck and breaks into the grounds, to find a house constructed entirely in pink, right down to the deserted heart-shaped swimming pool.She is intrigued. There has to be something she can do with this house, something spectacular, a project she can really devote body and soul to. So she leases it for a year and sets about making the most of it.But, you see, Desirée Danforth, however dead she might be, hasn’t really left and she was never the type of girl who liked to share.And she always knew that one day she would make a comeback.
